If you're here, we assume that you're interested to know more about Project Ext(AND). For people who are interested to sign up as tutors (Ex-andersonians), you shouldn't be here, you should be contacting huimin.yong@gmail.com for more details and the sign up form! But if you are interested to be a tutee, then you are at the correct place! ^^

So HELLO prospective tutees! Here are some additional details about Project Ext(AND) to facilitate your decision making. However, if you just want to cut it short and signup rightaway, just skip and go to FAQ question 7 to know how to sign up!

1) So you may ask, why is this project called Project Ext(AND)?

Thats because its a Service Learning Project organised by some EX-ANDersonians helping current ANDersonians and we are EXTENDing our help to you!

2) What is Project Ext(AND) all about then?

Project Ext(AND) is an initiative by a few ex-Andersonians and it is about starting a mentoring cum tutoring programme in Anderson. Our team proposes to start a tutoring programme for current Andersonians who might need additional help academically, or simply just because they need a listening ear or perhaps some post-secondary education advice. However, the main focus will definitely be on helping current Andersonians improve in terms of their grades. In Project Ext(AND), there will be a structured programme to follow, although the programme is flexible! See 3).

3) So what are the details about this programme? Timings etc?

(I) Matching of tutor to tutee

At the beginning, there will be form for all of you tutees to fill in regarding your details and subjects that you require help in. We will then collate your forms and match you to a tutor based on both parties’ profile. The tuition will be one-to-one so that the lesson content and speed can be customised to suit you! Also, in this way, there will be less distractions and diversion of attention.

(II) Time and Venue

Fret not if you have differing schedules! As we understand that both tutor and tutees may be quite busy, we will adopt a flexible scheme. Each tutor is assigned to you for the year. Each week, the tutor will meet you for about 1-2 hours depending on your needs and time constraints. The date, time and when to stop for breaks and examinations will be flexible and will depend on both parties; which means you can have your tuition at anyday and anytime of the week as long as both tutor and you can make it. There need not be a fixed day and time each week. The venue will be at Anderson (perhaps library or canteen). That is to say each week, you get to see your tutor for a minimum of 1hour on anyday that your arrange with him/her.

However, to ensure maximum effectiveness, there will be a minimum time frame for commitment – each tutor and tutee must at least complete 20 hours of tuition before ending the programme and their service. (For cases of emergency or examinations like the mid years and ‘A’ levels)

(III) Recording

Now doesn't this programme sounds interesting! However, do not think that you can sign up for this programme to "escape" CCA and extra lessons! There will be close monitoring of tution sessions and attendance! Each tutor will also be given a record sheet at the start of the programme to record the tuition sessions held for you. The date, time and content covered for each session must be recorded. Both you and the tutor will then have to sign to verify. At the end of every week, the record sheet has to be submitted to the school coordinator for the school chop as verification. This is to ensure greater transparency and better track recording.

4) Why should you sign up?

It is a awesome way for you to catch up on your school work! Signing up for Project Ext(AND) will allow you to clear your doubts regularly and help you improve in terms of your school grades. Best of all, its FREE! You don't need to pay for tuition!

5) What is the criteria to sign up?

There is obviously NO criteria! We just need you to be willing to learn, committed and interested in this programme. You'll have to have the determination to help yourself and be dedicated in order to see results. What you reap is what you sow! ALL ARE WELCOMED :D Regardless of age, gender, stream, race etc etc

6) When does this programme start and end?

This programme will officially begin after Chinese New Year and will end when the above criteria (20 hours) is met and your tutor/you decides to end the programme.

7) So now the most impt qn, HOW TO SIGN UP AS A TUTEE?

On the right side of this blog, you'll see under navigations, "sign up form" click it and fill up the form accordingly. Make sure the form is submitted after u fill it up, you should see a google notification saying that u have submitted the form successfully. You should fill up this form latest by 26 JAN 2011. After we've matched you with the tutor, we'll provided both of you with each other's details!
